Folders, Moving, and Trash

Published July 07, 2026

Creating a folder

On the Files page, use the New folder field to create one inside the folder you are currently viewing, or at the top level if you are in Files itself. Folders are listed first, followed by documents, and each group is sorted by name within that location.

Finding your way back

Click a folder's name to open it. A breadcrumb trail at the top of the page shows your path back to Files, and you can click any part of it to jump back up to that level.

Renaming

Click the "..." menu on a folder or document and choose Rename to edit its name in place, right in the list, without opening a separate page. Click Save to confirm, or Cancel to leave it as it was. This option only appears when you have edit permission on that item.

Moving to another folder

From the same "..." menu, pick a destination under Move to folder to relocate a folder or document - to any folder you have edit access to, or back to the top level if you own the item. It moves as soon as you choose a destination; there is no separate confirm step.

Trash

Deleting a document or folder moves it to Trash in the sidebar rather than removing it outright. Open Trash to Restore an item back to where it lived, or to delete it permanently when you're sure. Empty trash permanently clears everything you trashed yourself - it never touches other people's items.
