Click Open next to any document in your Files list to load it in EmpireVault's built-in editor - word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, Open Document Format files, and PDFs all open the same way. It opens in a new browser tab, so your Files list stays right where you left it.
Changes save automatically as you work - there is no separate save button - and the editor's top bar shows whether you are editing or viewing read-only. Close the tab whenever you are done; there is nothing extra to save first.
Several people can edit the same document at the same time. Everyone with edit access who opens the document joins the same live session - each person's name and cursor are visible in the editor, and changes appear for everyone as they are typed. Someone who opens the document read-only sees the changes appear live too. On the Files list, a document that is currently being edited shows an Editing: badge naming who is in it right now.
For security, document macros never run in the euro-office editor. Files that contain macros - a macro-enabled word document or spreadsheet, for example - still open and edit normally; the embedded macro code simply never executes, for anyone, in any mode.
PDFs open in the same editor as everything else. You can view them, add annotations, and fill in form fields - a PDF is not forced into a view-only mode, and PDFs can be edited together the same way as any other document.
